Ali Shawish made a dramatic return to the FC Buffalo lineup on Sunday when the Yemeni-American striker scored a stunning late winner off the bench to provide the Wolves a 2-1 comeback win over the visiting Rochester Lancers at Robert Rich Sr. All-High Stadium.

Behind early off a goal from former Buffalo State midfielder August Finn, the Wolves scored before and after halftime to complete a season sweep of the Lancers.

The first goal came when Habib Famuditimi swept a dangerous corner kick into the box and Alessio Atzori made the most of two chances to beat the Rochester keeper.

FCB had most of the ball as the match wore on but needed something special to deliver the goods.

That’s when The Situation Room got a treat from local boy Shawish, who had missed much of the season including a frustrating spell with injury.

Shawish took a knockdown from Jordan Acevedo and shook a defender with a jab step left before cutting right to unleash a beautiful shot from distance that ducked over the goal line to give FCB a win.

The win snaps a long winless run and puts FCB back on the upswing ahead of a NISA Independent Cup date with Detroit City FC and an NPSL finale at Syracuse FC on Saturday, July 17.
