By now you may have seen the commercial for this year’s Heritage Centers 5K, featuring a fine young woman informing the world she’ll be running on the FC Buffalo Team in the May 11 race (JOIN OUR TEAM TODAY).
This afternoon, we’re proud to announce that our club is now an official community sponsor of this wonderful organization who provides “comprehensive and quality programming for people with developmental disabilities.”
“We’re finally at a stage in our development as a business that we can reach out further into the community and Heritage Centers has inspired us for years now,” said FC Buffalo co-owner Joshua Batten, noting how happy the club is to become more involved in community sponsorships. “Myself and other co-owners have run their annual 5k race for years and we’re so happy to up our commitment.”
The first event in which FC Buffalo will involves itself is the aforementioned 13th Annual Heritage Centers Foundation 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, May 11, 2013 (the day after our NPSL home opener). The race will start at the Heritage Centers building at 101 Oak Street in Downtown Buffalo. It’s a scenic waterfront 5K route, with an amazing after-party featuring BW’s BBQ and Buffalo’s own Flying Bison beer on tap! Every year there are over 100 incredible raffle baskets.
We’d love it if you’d join our FC Buffalo Team for this race (you can by clicking this link and signing up). Registration is $25 before May 4 and $30 after May 4. Our staff and some players will be involved in this event (plus the post-party is pretty legendary).
“To register, go to www.hcf5krun.kintera.org and sign up to walk / run or to simply donate,” Batten said. “Click register now. Select to sign up for an existing team, select FC Buffalo and proceed to feel good about yourself cause you just made a difference in your city.”
