Carissima Cutrona set up an early goal for Marcy Barberic and FC Buffalo’s women stayed perfect in United Women’s Soccer with a 1-0 win over Syracuse DA at Solvay High School on Thursday.

FCB captain and University at Buffalo alum Cutrona assisted a goal from her former college teammate Barberic, recently named a USCAA All-American, for a 10th-minute lead that would last.

Emily Kelly, also a UB player, overcame an early injury scare to make several big saves in the win, FCB’s first clean sheet in the nascent history of our UWS side.

Barberic’s goal was her second in two games, while Cutrona now has an assist in all three UWS games.

The women improve to 3-0 on the season under coach Nikki Bartholomew and assistant Gabrielle Wilson, and finally get to play a home game Friday when they face Albany Rush a second time for a 5:30pm kickoff before the unbeaten FCB men meet derby rivals Erie Commodores at 8pm.

There are a limited amount of single-game tickets but we will be limited to below state maximum capacity for this week’s double-header. Tickets for the women’s or men’s game are $10, doubleheader tickets are $15, and are available here.
