Bounce back in Syracuse

FC Buffalo was quick to cast out the demons from its Sunday loss in Pittsburgh, scoring three first half goals as part of a 3-0 defeat of Syracuse FC at Wilbur Field at Onondaga Community College on Wednesday.

Will Warren, Kieran Toland, and Carl Kennedy scored for the Wolves. The win boosts Buffalo back within sight of one of two East Division playoff spots and completes a season sweep of our Central New York foes.

FCB returns home on Saturday for a huge match with first place Cleveland SC. Get your tickets below and save $2 on the door price.

The match provided several milestones:

  • Kieran Toland’s fifth goal of the season was his eighth for the club, tying him for fifth all-time with Russell Cicerone, Richie Wilson, and Mike Reidy.
  • Chris Walter is the first person in club history to make 70 league appearances.
  • Jeremy Figler moved to within one clean sheet and one win of Andrew Coughlin for the most in FCB history.

An early save from Jeremy Figler helped steady the nerves, and FCB was quickly in control of the match.

Warren’s opener was stylish, the St. Francis Xavier winger dribbling four or five men before beating the Cuse keeper. Josh Read set up the goal.

Hunter Walsh then worked the end line before cueing up Kieran Toland for his fifth of the season and FCB had two goals in four minutes.

Kennedy’s goal was an absolute beauty, as a Colin O’Keefe nutmeg of a defender drifted outside the 18 for the Shaw University rising senior to swirl over the keeper and into the upper 90.
