TICKETS: FC Buffalo v Steel City — 5pm Saturday
FC Buffalo’s men’s team are scoring goals at an almost absurd pace, with 27 on the season thanks to six 3+ goal performances including a seven-spot midweek at Cleveland.
Now they just need to knock down the only team to keep them off the board.
Saturday is a fight for first place in USL2’s Great Forest Division as FCB brings 20 points through nine games into a visit from Steel City — holders of 20 through eight and a 3-0 home win on the grass pitch at Founders Field in Cheswick, Pennsylvania.
FCB has not lost since that match and only one team has kept the Wolves within two goals — Pittsburgh Riverhounds 2 — as the front trident of Ali Alomari, Lovro Kostanjsek, and Lucas Soares have delivered 24 of the team’s 27 goals.
With third-place Lorain County still on both FCB and Steel City’s dockets, the division will be decided over the next few weeks. First-place means an automatic place in the playoffs. Second means a points-per-game tiebreaker with the second-place team in the Great Lakes Division, so every point matters.
