WATCH: Jonah meets FC Buffalo

In 2015, FC Buffalo combined with 26 Shirts to raise money for a young family in Western New York via the sales of “For Our City”, a unique FCB shirt design.

The family’s young son, Jonah, was diagnosed with stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma on Dec. 18, 2014 at the age of 15 months. Neuroblastoma is an aggressive childhood cancer, and Jonah’s family had to travel between Buffalo and New York City for harrowing, expensive treatments.

Jonah’s parents are mail carriers from Angola, and have sacrificed much for their family. Since the campaign, we’ve often been asked how Jonah is doing, and we’ve got some great news and an update.

Jonah is considered NED (no evidence of disease) and is undergoing some trials that could help prevent relapses. He’s even started playing soccer through our friends at Soccer Shots Buffalo.

On Saturday, Jonah and his family came out to their first game and met the players beforehand. We want to share the experience with you, because it was really cute and we’re extremely happy to see the tough little man smiling and playing the game we love.

My nephew amazes me every second of every day. Watching him walk into their locker room and get an applause for being such a fighter is hands down one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen. I have quite literally watched this 100 times…easily.
