We may try to beat them in friendly matches, but the Rochester Rhinos have been huge supporters of FC Buffalo’s quest to become a major player in US soccer. Playing in the USL Pro, the Rhinos are the reigning USL Conference champions and have helped along the careers of such major punters as Pat Onstad (Houston Dynamo), Carlos Mendes (NY RedBulls) and Scott Palguta (Colorado Rapids).
The Rhinos have built a massive following in Rochester and were welcoming enough to host FC Buffalo’s first ever friendly in May 2010. Don’t tell anyone, but we lost.
We’ll hopefully be matching up with the Rhinos again this season — schedule to be announced soon — but for now the Rhinos are upping the bar on our Saturday, January 22nd fundraiser at Papa Jake’s. The Rhinos have donated the following incredible prizes for raffle or auction:
– Authentic Rhinos jersey
– Rhinos autographed jersey
– Autographed soccer ball
– 15-ticket Flex pack (vouchers good in any quantity to any 2011 game)
Plus, the first 35 people through the door will receive a free pair of tickets good to any match of Rochester’s 2011 USL Pro season.
