Thruway Derby: FCB has played a quartet of matches with the USL’s Rochester Rhinos, but will face an intra-league 585 opponent for the first time when Rochester River DogZ FC visits Saturday.

There are plenty of connections between the two sides:

— FC Buffalo assistant coach Bob Roach played for Rochester coach Matt Tantalo at Elmira College for one year in 2001.

— FCB rookies Anthony Gaglianese and Nikko Richards hail from the Rochester area, while 2015 NPSL First Team All-XI defender Kendell McFayden played professionally for the Rochester Rhinos. FCB assistant coach Brian Knapp played for the Rochester Lancers in indoor ball.

— River DogZ have several players who used to play for FCB, including Jake Schindler (2011), Gary Boughton (2012), Luke Pavone (2015), Cameron Hogg (2015) and Anthony Rozzano (2013-15). Austin Gerber and Ben Derleth were on the 2015 roster.
