Buffalo’s Big Man is back.

FC Buffalo is extremely pleased to announce that Brendan Murphy has agreed to terms on a contract that will keep the head coach at the helm of the Wolves through 2015.

“I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to once again be the head coach for the Blitzers,” Murphy said. “I loved working with the ownership group last year and I appreciate their confidence in me to help the team improve on the excellent foundation we built in 2013.”

Murphy set club bests in single-season and career wins in 2013 as the team posted a 8-4 regular season mark before its season ended in the first playoff game of FC Buffalo’s existence. Despite playing in what is arguably the deepest conference in the NPSL, Murphy’s team set club records in clean sheets and goals allowed per game.

“Brendan’s first year was a memorable one,” said owner/general manager Nick Mendola. “What we’ve heard from our counterparts around the league and our fans only reinforces what we saw on a day-to-day basis: Coach Murphy is a family man who cares deeply for his city, his team and his sport.”

Assistant coach Bob Roach is also back in the fold for a 2014 season that will challenge the team in new ways with expansion and realignment providing more and better competition over a longer schedule (Details soon). Murphy has joined with the FC Buffalo ownership group to build new bridges to make Buffalo a more attractive place to play.

“Our competition has only gotten stronger and we will have some great opponents this year,” Murphy said. “But with the support of the best fan base in the country, I have great confidence we will take another positive step forward in 2014.”

Try-out dates for the 2014 Wolves will be announced in short order, to be conducted in late December and/or early January.
