After leading FC Buffalo in scoring last season, Brett Larocque has headed overseas.

The six-goal man from Ottawa, Ontario, is playing with Sandvikens IF of Sweden’s Division II, making an impactful debut in a 6-0 win for coach Stefan Lundin’s Järngänget — translation: The Iron Gang — on June 11.

Larocque SandvikensAfter the match, Lundin praised Larocque as a fast learner and quick player who did what he was instructed. The winger subbed into the match in the 81st minute and promptly won a penalty that, no surprise, he deferred to a teammate sitting on a hat trick.

I ran into the box and their defenders cut my legs,” Larocque said to Swedish publication Arbetarbladet. “I would have taken the penalty, but it was obvious that (Rafael) York could get a hat-trick.”

A Bryant University alumnus, Brett was voted both Best Offensive Player and Unsung Hero by FC Buffalo’s players and staff in 2015.
