FREE Buffalo screening of the Jay Demerit Story on June 15

Almost everyone loves an underdog, and this story is that plot line squared.

“Rise and Shine: The Jay Demerit Story” is a documentary by two of the American defender’s best friends detailing Demerit’s rise from little-known college baller to World Cup starter. It’s an inspiring film, and Jay has given us permission to hold a free screening to help raise funds for the movie.

At 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 15 at The Town Ballroom on Main Street in Buffalo, you can enjoy “Rise and Shine” for free and then contribute to the film’s release. The film doesn’t work without the World Cup and EPL footage contained in it, and the rights for their usage are quite expensive. After the screening, FC Buffalo and American Outlaws: Buffalo Chapter will pass a proverbial hat to try and get this movie into other festivals and mainstream release.

The film begins at 8 p.m. You can see a trailer below. People of any age are welcome at the showing and “Rise and Shine” is family-friendly. Bring your team, family or friends for this event. The Town Ballroom will have beverages available for those who wish to partake. If you’re a Facebook user, please head here and RSVP.
