FCB men clinch USL2 Playoffs berth

Ali Alomari scored twice as FC Buffalo completed a season sweep of Lorain County Leviathan with a 4-1 win at Coyer Field on Friday night, but the good news wasn’t done upon the final whistle.

Losses for a pair of USL2 Great Lakes Division sides meant that no runner-up in that division can reach the 24-point mark now breached by FCB, meaning that at-worst the Wolves have earned a wild card berth in the USL2 Playoffs.

It’s the first time FCB have made the USL Playoffs, and there’s still an outside shot the Blitzers can win the Great Forest Division with a win over Akron City on July 11 and out-of-town results going our way.

Evan Cunningham also scored in Friday’s victory, while Shawn Richardson and Lucas Soares registered assists. For Soares, he matches the single-season FCB men’s record for assists set by Russell Cicerone in 2014.

FCB will enter the playoffs at a location to be determined the weekend of July 17-19. Thanks for supporting us on our way.
