Carissima Cutrona’s latest star turn bounced FC Buffalo out of its three-game winless run with a resounding 7-0 win over Cleveland Force on Wednesday at Coyer Field in Buffalo.
The Blitzers led 1-0 at halftime off a Cleveland own goal prodded by Cutrona when she charged toward a Skylar Cornell cross into the six, but the best was yet to come.
Cutrona scored four goals in a 6:01 span early in the second half, leading a six-star period that also included goals from Morgan Kulniszewski and Gianna Tuzzolino.
Cornell had two assists in the win, while both Paige Szymanski and Kam Vanderbosch also set up FCB goals. Shea Vanderbosch played 66 minutes to share a clean sheet with Bella Simoncelli.
The win can put the Blitzers’ USL W League playoff hopes back on track. They’ll next meet Erie in Erie on Saturday, then go to Flower City before returning home as part of a USL doubleheader on June 21.
