Standout NU defender joins fray

You wait all day to release some commitment news… and then it comes in droves.

Moments after our latest post, FCB head coach Brendan Murphy received word of another important commitment for the summer of 2013: Niagara defender Nick Garcia.

“He’s going to be a rock in the back for us,” Murphy said. “He’s a very technical player who is great on the ball and a hard-nosed defender. He’s just a leader in every aspect of the word.”

Garcia played in all 19 of Niagara’s games in their thrilling run to the NCAA Tournament. He garnered two assists. The Greece-Athena product is also a strong student named to the All-MAAC Academic Team.

“It’s clear that Coach Murphy is aggressively pursuing not only the best talent in the area, but high character as well,” said general manager Nick Mendola. “We’re thankful to have Nick turning out for our side and we’re thrilled to have a player from Chase Brooks’ historic Purple Eagles squad.”
