Soctoberfest 2012 – The New Fall Classic

FC Buffalo is  pleased to announce that the highly successful small-sided soccer tournament Soctoberfest, which debuted in Burlington, Ontario, last fall, has expanded and will be debuting in Buffalo on Sunday, October 7 at Delaware Park. Working with our friends from Delaware Soccer Club (http://www.delawaresoccerclub.com/) we are able to insure the crown jewel of the Olmsted Parks as our home base for the tournament.

FC Buffalo will be hosting the three division tournament which begins at 8 AM, and depending on teams registered, should wrap up by the early afternoon. Games will take place on the two fields in the southwest corner of the park, closest to the 198, and the small field by the tennis courts directly across from Nichols School. The divisions will be Men’s competitive, Men’s recreational, and coed.

The tournament format is 7v7, and teams can roster a minimum of 7 players and a maximum of 13. Players can play on one men’s division team and one coed team, but not in both men’s divisions or on multiple men’s teams. Coed teams will be required to field two women on the field during the duration of their games.

Teams can expect to play a minimum of four 30 minute games between group play and playoff rounds. As teams begin to register we will have a better idea what to expect and hopefully will be offering more games to teams.

Teams will be required to wear matching shirts as uniforms. It is advised that teams bring a second color as a backup, as FC Buffalo will have limited pinnies available to provides as alternates.

Cost for Soctoberfest is $200 if registered and paid by October 1, 2012. After October 1, the cost increases to $250. Payment can be made by visiting the FC Buffalo web store and using our Paypal option, FC Buffalo will also be accepting cash/check or credit card payments by emailing scott@fcbuffalo.org.

Saturday, October 6 pre-party, and October 7 post-party will be hosted at Mes Que. More prizes and day of tournament fun to be announced in the coming days.

Any questions or comments can be addressed to scott@fcbuffalo.org.
