The referee said there was less than a minute to play as a corner kick was swung in, and Daniel Griffin’s finish left little time for an equalizer as FC Buffalo Revs defeated Polonia White Eagles 2-1 at Sahlen Sports Park on Sunday.
Goalkeeper Samuel Torrelli (Monroe Community College // Akron, N.Y.) was exceptional for FC Buffalo’s reserve team, and the Revs had just enough to have his back in the win.
“Sam made 4 or 5 point blank saves, either on breakaways or just wide open chances,” said FCB Revs head coach John Grabowski. “He’s been great, a really good player.”
Adam Lang (Erie Community College // Fredonia, N.Y.) scored FCB Revs’ other goal when he tapped in a cross from Andrew Brobbey (SUNY Morrisville // Bronx, N.Y.). Griffin (Williamsville East High School) scored for the second straight match.
FCB Revs (1W-1L-1T) are back at home at the Park School of Buffalo on June 8 to take on Rush FC at 6 p.m.
