On May 17, the Buffalo soccer community lost a fixture in longtime Buffalo Celtic player Chris Pepper after a valiant fight with cancer.
Chris will always remain a symbol of the way Buffalo soccer likes to view itself: passionate, hard-working and relentless on the field; kind, inclusive and funny off it.
Many in the BDSL have given touching tributes to Chris, from lineup cards shaped in his No. 7 to observing the 7th minute of their next match in honor of their friend and his club wearing “Pepper United” black jerseys for their Sunday match.
FC Buffalo would like to ask our home crowd this Friday to make an observance of its own. When the first half hits the 7:00 mark, we would ask that you join us in a minute’s worth of applause to honor the positive contribution that Chris made in this world.
The club also will hold a 50/50 draw on Friday to donate to Chris’ family to help with expenses, and will also give $2 from every ticket sold through this link for the rest of our regular season games.
Rest in peace, Chris.
@BDSLRumors @BuffaloCeltic nice win today in our #PepperUnited jerseys. Puts a small smile on a terrible week RIP #7 pic.twitter.com/GHvtPeIN03
