Lord Bedlington sets bar for Blitzers in Cup Tilt

The title may be tongue-in-cheek, but Buffalo businessman Bob “Lord Bedlington” Rich is serious about his desire to see his trophy stay on this side of the pond.

“I’ve gotta give you fair warning, Nick, you better get your lads going because I talked to David Holmes (BTFC chairman) yesterday and they are taking this very seriously,” Rich said during a Monday morning interview on FC Buffalo owner Nick Mendola’s radio show (Listen to the full interview HERE on WECK1230.com).

“You’ve gotta keep Lord Bedlington’s Cup in Buffalo, I’m counting on you.”

Rich talked a great deal about his terrific relationship with Bedlington Terriers FC, as well as his newfound relationship with soccer and FC Buffalo. He also expressed desire to see the WNY soccer community out to meet the international media like the BBC at the Cup game on June 29.

“I’ve heard so much about the soccer community in town and I hope that they’ll really get behind this,” Rich said.

But above all publicity, the former college hockey goalie stressed to Nick that Buffalo needs to win the thing!

“Don’t let that hardware leave Buffalo. Don’t let those Brits take it!”
