FC Buffalo saw its five-match unbeaten run in the Erie County Derby snapped in a gut-punching 4-3 loss at Sox Harrison Stadium in Edinboro, Penn., on Saturday.

The Blitzers led 1-0, 2-1, and 3-2, before conceding twice in second half stoppage time to fall to 0-2 on the season.

FCB opened the scoring when Lewis White (Musselburgh, Scotland / Cape Breton University) sent a terrific diagonal ball into the box for Kendell McFayden to head home.

BOX SCORE

The 14th minute goal extended his all-time club record to 13.

The 1-0 lead lasted into halftime, but Erie’s Cam Philpot scored the first of his three goals early in the second half.

White then played a role in FCB’s outstanding second goal, with his cross controlled by substitute Akean Shackleford and laid off for Austin Stout (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania / Duquesne University) to lash into the upper 90.

After Erie equalized again, an own goal put FCB up 3-2 in the 88th minute. But a drop ball turned into another equalizer and the Commodores made it 4-3 deep in stoppage time.

FCB’s next home match comes Sunday, May 27 against Syracuse FC. Admission is $8 at the door, $7 presale, or discounted deeper as part of our season ticket packages.
