Luis Felipe Santos scored a first-half goal and four goalkeepers combined on a clean sheet as head coach Carl Kennedy used 20 players in a 1-0 friendly win over I-90 rivals Flower City Union of the NPSL on Saturday.

Kennedy got a look at a wide variety of players with more set to arrive this week ahead of Sunday’s USL League Two home opener versus Erie SCFC.

FC Buffalo veterans Bryce Tramuta and Jack Root split the second half in goal for FCB after young bucks Liam Brandt and Ian Burgos split the first half.

The goal came off a free kick routine, as Javier Gonzalez Bucarey played a 1-2 with brother Carlos Aedo before driving toward goal and laying off for Ignacio Jansen.

Jansen’s cross was nearly slid over the line by an acrobatic Jacobo Obradors, but Luis Felipe Santos was quick to react and snap the rebound home with his left foot.

The friendly came after the women’s team staged a scrimmage ahead of Tuesday’s USL W League opener, also against Erie SCFC. Get down to Coyer Field and collect a magnet schedule sponsored by Great Lakes Coffee Roasters while supplies last.
