FCB drops season opener in Rochester

TICKETS: FCB v. FC St. Pauli in Buffalo!!

Stumbling out of the blocks, FC Buffalo let a controlling 15 minutes go to waste with allowing two goals in each half of a season-opening 4-0 loss to the Rochester Lancers on Charles A. Schiano Field at Aquinas Stadium on Sunday.

The loss puts FCB in fifth of six teams ahead of a two-week break between league matches. Frank Butcher’s Wolves meet FC St. Pauli on Saturday at All-High before hosting Syracuse FC on May 31.

FCB was without a few pieces for the match, as striker Nevado Elliott and midfielder Kieran Toland await international clearance. Midfielder Cameron Emerson arrives this week.

But the Wolves still had plenty of the ball only to fail to find the back of the net while also suffering through some costly mistakes.

A Hunter Walsh ungiven penalty could’ve changed things early, while Will Warren saw one good chance saved and another dragged wide as FCB bid to get back in the match.

Ex-FCB winger Anthony Rozzano, defender Jake Schindler, and forward Austin Gerber all scored for the Lancers (1-0).
