Coach Brendan Murphy’s roster is rounding up at a historically-early point as the first year skipper continues to land talent for the 2013 NPSL season, announcing the addition of four new players Monday: Pablo Ordonez, Bobby Ross, Steven Carcaterro and Mitchell Skrabacz.

Murphy liked what he saw in returning players Ordonez and Carcaterro:

It’s great to have a wide player like Pablo Ordonez,” Murphy said of the Cheektowaga HS product who was born in Ecuador. “He has great feet and is very shifty with the ball.  His services into the box can be deadly and he has the potential to be a game changer every time he steps on the field.”

“Steven Carcaterro can be a very dangerous winger or outside midfielder. He has great pace and is very creative with his passing and decisions on the ball. He brings a high tempo work rate to the team as well.”

Murphy plucked Skrabacz and Ross from Temple University and SUNY Brockport, respectively. Skrabacz just finished his second season defending for the Owls after a strong career at West Seneca East and Blackwatch West. A Grand Island product, Ross is a remarkably versatile player who just completed his junior year at Brockport, where he has 12 goals and four assists in 53 appearances.

“Bobby Ross may be our best pure defender and has a real knack for the net,” Murphy said. “His timing on tackles, positional sense and 1v1 defending are top notch and his presence on the field will make it very difficult for opposing attackers.”

“Mitchell Skrabacz is a solid player all around. Does all the little things and his work ethic takes him a long way. He will be a great addition to the midfield core.”
