Russell Cicerone named to All-NPSL Team!

FC Buffalo first year midfielder Russell Cicerone (University at Buffalo // Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) has been named to the All-NPSL Team.

Cicerone is one of just 11 players from a pool of hundreds of players across dozens of teams to receive this national honor. He scored eight goals and added six assists in 13 games for the Wolves this season.

“I know I can speak for our coaches, staff and players when I say this is a huge and well-deserved honor for a creative and industrious player,” said general manager Nick Mendola. “We’re looking forward to building on this success together next summer.

“Having four of the 11 members of the team coming from the Great Lakes Conference shows that we play in the toughest group in the nation.”

Cicerone won the league’s first Mitre national player of the week award earlier this season. He is FC Buffalo’s first postseason award winner since the All-Star nods for Daniel Stevens (2010), Daniel Panaro (2010) and Corey Phillips (2011).

Cicerone will be a sophomore at UB this Fall, where he was Mid American Conference newcomer of the year after his freshman season.
