Blitzers outplayed in Erie

The Erie Admirals didn’t need the help of visiting FC Buffalo to pull all three points from Sunday’s fixture at Gannon University Field, but they sure got it as two early mishaps put the Blitzers down 2-0 on the way to a 3-1corner loss.

Noted FCB killer Afrim Latifi struck first as he capitalized on the back line’s presupposition that the speedy forward was off. Soon after, a misjudged free kick found its way into the net.

A revitalized side had the run of play into halftime spearheaded by Andy Tiedt and Chris Walter, whose effort was unquestionable.

Erie added a third in the second half but the Blitzers looked ready to tally when Kendell McFayden was fouled in the box, but FCB captain Gary Boughton put his PK off the post.

Tiedt was rewarded minutes later when he attacked Mike Reidy ‘scorner corner, sending it home. The game ended, 3-1, with Buffalo lamenting missed chances and Erie talking about superiority. The devoted and traveling crowd of FCB supporters suggests Erie have a lot more work to do off the field and that we have a lot to do on it.
