On Saturday night in Reading, Richie Wilson and Dan Stevens each tallied their first goals as members of FC Buffalo only to see their squad fall, 4-2.
The same names struck Sunday and the Blitzers (3-2-3) defense stood tall as FC Buffalo completed a season sweep of the New Jersey Blaze with a pair of second-half goals, 2-0.
“First half was a tough-fought match which was really just us not playing our game yet,” said assistant coach Matt Stuczynski, who filled in for Jim Hesch.”It was nice to see that we came to form in the second half, really just stringing some passes together and it was good to see the ball go in the net twice for a good victory.”
The first goal came early in the second half when the ball was sprayed out wide to Andy Tiedt, who took a couple touches before tossing the ball into the six to a streaking Wilson, who headed it home. A few minutes late it was a corner kick service from Mike Unwin that was knocked out to Stevens, who took a touch before rifling it up upper 90 from 30 yards away.
Dan Panaro posted his third clean sheet of the campaign.
FC Buffalo travels to Erie for a Friday night affair before returning home to host the TSD Maryland Red Devils on Saturday, July 3 at 3 p.m. at Robert E. Rich All-High Stadium.
