FC Buffalo maintained Erie County Derby bragging rights with a 2-1 win over the visiting Erie Commodores on Saturday at Robert Rich Sr. All-High Stadium.

The win made it five-straight EC Derby matches without a loss for the Blitzers, who got goals from Akean Shackleford (Savannah La Mar, Jamaica / Indian Hills CC) and Julian Dragomir (Scottsdale, Arizona / MSU Billings).

Shackleford flicked a cross from Austin Stout (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania / Duquesne University) into the Erie goal in the ninth minute to give FCB a 1-0 lead over the previously unbeaten Commodores.

The Wolves received standout performances from center backs Jordan Sinclair and Fox Slotemaker, who kept the Commodores at bay long enough for an impact substitute to give FCB a two-goal cushion.

Dragomir subbed into the match in the 75th minute, and scored on his first touch of the game when Isaiah Barrett (Lockport, N.Y. / Binghamton University) dazzled down the right flank before cutting back for the striker.

Barrett’s five assists are one shy of the single-season record held by Russell Cicerone.

Erie dominated the early rivalry with FCB, but the Blitzers have done gained a point in five in-a-row versus the Commodores.
