Walk with FCB & stride against domestic and gender violence in Buffalo

On the heels of our 26 Shirts “For Our City” shirt campaign, which raised more than $1200 for young Jonah and his family’s battle against cancer, FC Buffalo is happy to join in another worthy fundraising and awareness event.

Next Sunday, April 26, members of FC Buffalo’s staff will join in Crisis Services’ 10th Annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes®. We hope you’ll join our team on the day after our friendly at GCC and party at Batavia Downs Gaming.

“We are thrilled that FC Buffalo staff, players and fans will be be participating in Crisis Services’ Walk A Mile in Her Shoes -a Community Walk to end gender violence,” said Jessica Pirro, the CEO of Crisis Services.

“We applaud their commitment to our mission to end domestic and sexual violence in our community. FC Buffalo — For Our City! — We are glad they are here for Crisis Services.”

In the meantime, if you want to sponsor our putting on high heels — and why wouldn’t you?!? — head to our fundraising page here and help us reach our goal of $500 for Crisis Services.

For more on the event:

There is an old saying: “You can’t really understand another person’s experience until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes.” Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® asks men to literally walk one mile in women’s high-heeled shoes. It’s not easy walking in these shoes, but it’s fun and it gets the community to talk about something that’s really difficult to talk about: gender relations and men’s sexual violence against women.

The event kicks off and ends at Crisis Services, 2969 Main Street at the foot of Hertel Avenue. The route takes supporters down Hertel to Starin Avenue and back again.  Competitions and contests will feature activities, prizes and more.

All proceeds go to support the Crisis Services’ Advocate Program, which provides confidential response & support services for survivors of rape, sexual assault, domestic violence, family violence, and elder abuse 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
