The week that was: May 19-25

Indiana Fire 2, FC Buffalo 1

One-match weekends are especially brutal when the team doesn’t win, and FC Buffalo is experiencing that this week after watching a 1-0 halftime lead turn into a 2-1 stoppage time loss on Sunday in Indiana.

It was the first match between the Wolves and the Fire, and the visitors got off to a great start. FC Buffalo controlled the ball for the majority of the first half, if not the match, and converted one opportunity.

Martin Fiemawhle was on the doorstep when Bobby Ross headed down Russell Cicerone’s corner kick to give FCB a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute.

But two near-identical goals in the second half improved the home team to 3-0-1 on the season, as Indiana used an 85-degree day to its home advantage.

News:

Andrew Bednarsky and Chris Walter each made their 2014 debuts on Sunday, and FC Buffalo received addition good news when English forward Luke Elston’s clearance came through. Also earning their clearances were Irish goalkeeper Sean Allen and former Rochester Rhinos striker Kendell McFayden. Head coach Brendan Murphy expects the players to make their debuts soon.
