Skid hits four in 2-1 road loss

Kristian Lee-Him’s wonder goal in stoppage time was not enough to snap FC Buffalo’s losing ways, as Lansing United beat the Blitzers 2-1 on Sunday in Michigan.

The loss makes it four in-a-row for FCB, and overshadows a strong performance for goalkeeper Waleed Cassis. The senior-to-be at UB made some exceptional saves and was undone by massive lapses in the back.

Matt Brown scored both of Lansing’s goals before giving FCB hope with a kick-out at Cassis’ ribs in the 89th minute.

His second yellow condemned Lansing to 10-men, and Lee-Him responded by picking up a flick from Andrew Bednarsky and burying it in the back of the net from 20 yards out.

Alas, it wasn’t enough. Cassis was named Rich Products’ FCB Man of the Match for his efforts.

FCB finishes the road portion of its schedule with a game at Erie on Thursday night. The Wolves then have home matches to close the regular season on July 6, 9 and 13.
