We’re better than a month into the 2017 NCAA and NAIA men’s soccer seasons, so we figured it was as good a time as any to check out the statuses of our alums still active in the college game.

Former UB midfielder David Enstrom was recently named Big East Defensive Player of the Week for his work at center back for St. John’s, while fellow UB product Fox Slotemaker has three assists in eight matches at Old Dominion.

Robert Morris University has two Blitzers in the mix, with Bayley Winkel posting six goals and an assist for the Colonials. Jake Cooper has chipped in a goal and three assists from his position deep in the midfield.

Kieran Toland has returned from injury to post two goals and two assists for St. Bonaventure, and transfer Isaiah Barrett‘s made six appearances for the Bonnies.

At Niagara, goalkeeper Steve Casey has 17 saves, Bauti Pedezert has a goal, and has been influential in the Purple Eagles’ playmaking. Hector Solorio (’17) and Matt Lopoyda (’16) have a combined 13 appearances this season.

Across the bridge, Marco Trivellato has two shutouts and six wins for Canisius, while 2016-17 squad member Troy Brady has six goals and an assist. Hunter Walsh (’16) has three goals for the Griffs, while Nick Szabo‘s freshman campaign has seen him get some minutes as well.

Akean Shackleford has 16 goals and two assists for Indian Hills Community College, with “Shack” tied for third nationally in goals scored. The Warriors are ranked sixth in the NJCAA.

Brian Paredes is captaining LIU Brooklyn, while Romario Guscott (’16) has a goal and two assists for the Blackbirds and Zach Peterson‘s made six appearances in seven matches.

Jordan Sinclair has started all six games of Mobile’s 4-1-1 season, and the NAIA’s Rams are ranked sixth in the country.

Austin Stout has started every game for Duquense, as freshman Brett Stern gets his feet wet with the Dukes and Matt Pickard debuts for Syracuse.

Goalkeeper Cam Hogg‘s San Diego State is 4-4 to start the season.

Frank Cotroneo has played the second-most minutes on Siena following his transfer from Villanova, posting an assist.

Cameron Emerson has a team-best two assists for Anderson University in South Carolina, also posting a goal for the Trojans.

Josh Beshaw has an assist in nine matches for Buffalo State College.

Old friends…  Ian McGrath (’16) has five goals and three assists while captaining the Evansville Aces. … Johnny McBeth (’16) has a goal and two assists at Hartwick; Jamie O’Grady was on our roster in the Spring of 2016 before suffering an injury. He has six goals this season. … Andrew Crawford (’16) has made six appearances for Rider. … Kevin Kappock (’15) has started 8 of 8 matches for Marist. … There are four (4!) ex-FCB players on Midwestern State, where Scott Doney (’15) has eight goals, Koby Sapon-Amoah (’16) has three, Steve Pondeca (’16) has one, and Alex Dimitriu (’16) has an assist. … Anthony Gaglianese (’16) has nine matches and an assist at St. Bonaventure, while Nikko Richards (’16) has eight apps. … Luke Pavone (’15) has four goals and three assists at Buff State. … Gary Boughton has coached the Erie CC women to a 7-2 mark, and the Kats were once ranked No. 1 nationally. … Brian “BK” Knapp has the Hartwick women at 5-3 in his first year on the job.
