FC Buffalo head coach Brendan Murphy continues to construct a deep and talented team fit for the congested 2015 schedule with the addition of electrifying Southern Illinois University Edwardsville midfielder Jabari Danzy.

A Chicago Fire Academy attacker and redshirt-junior, Danzy scored five times for SIUE in 2014 including the 2OT game-winning goal (below) in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament, a tally that made Sportscenter’s Top Plays of the weekend. He spent his freshman year at Northern Illinois before transferring to SIUE.

Meet the new guy: Jabari Danzy

How would you describe yourself as a player, and what players in the world at your position do you admire?

I would have to say I’m simply a very athletic guy who has been taught to use his feet decently well. Fast, strong, willing to do the dirty work. As far as a player I admire, I’ll go with Theo Walcott or even Aaron Lennon.

What do you like to do away from soccer?

Mainly just hang out around the guys or just making the best of my environments.

What’s your most memorable soccer experience?

Winning the Missouri Valley Championship this past season.

What’s your most memorable non-soccer experience?

When my mom came home from Afghanistan.

What’s something fans should know about you?

At the end of the day, it’s not about me, but I like winning just as much as the fans who support. So if I win, the city wins. Looking forward to doing whatever I can to help accomplish something special in Buffalo.
