The first match of the 2013 Erie County Derby resembled far too many of the others as FC Buffalo squandered some glorious opportunities en route to a 1-0 loss to the Erie Admirals (1-0-1) at the Cathedral Prep Events Center in Erie, Penn.

BOX SCORE

The Blitzers (2-1-0) looked strong early and the first half featured numerous exciting stretches. FCB looked to have earned their keep when Erie midfielder Gary O’Neill was sent off for punching FCB forward Andy Tiedt, but Erie instead went aggressive down one man.

Admirals midfielder Karl Jones headed home a corner in the 83rd minute to send FCB to defeat.

FC Buffalo’s next match is Friday as they start a two-game road trip with a date in Ohio against AFC Cleveland, followed by a Sunday match in Zanesville.
