Andrew Coughlin‘s shutout streak stands at 187 minutes and counting after the Syracuse University keeper backstopped FC Buffalo to a solid 2-0 road win over Zanesville Athletic FC at Panther Stadium in South Zanesville, Ohio.

BOX SCORE

FCB (4-0-1) struck first in the 40th minute when a Alex Stephan (SUNY Geneseo // Clarence, N.Y.) pounced on a ZAFC miscue to join a 2v1 with Andy Tiedt (University at Buffalo // Akron, N.Y.) toward goalkeeper Mike Lambeck. Stephan’s cheeky side-footed pass found Tiedt who hammered home his 10th goal as a Blitzer, earning him a share of the all-time team record with Mike Unwin.

Five minutes later found Ian Mort (SUNY Geneseo // Rochester, N.Y.) streaking down the right wing after winning a 1v1 battle. The center midfielder noticed no one closing him down and launched a laser from 30 yards out that caught Lambeck off guard. The Blitzers were up, 2-0, and wouldn’t look back.

Screen Shot 2013-06-02 at 5.08.28 PMThe affair was a physical one, but not dirty, as both teams played hard with just a yellow each to show for it. Peter Marlette (Trinity College // Buffalo, N.Y.) saw yellow for a dangerous tackle in the second half.

FC Buffalo is now level on points with Great Lakes Conference leaders Detroit City FC, who has won all four of its contests. The teams do not face-off until June 23 in Michigan.
