Whatever demons the Erie Admirals brought with them to Robert E. Rich All-High Stadium on Friday, Nick Garcia and FC Buffalo sent them to the sea.

Garcia (Rochester, N.Y. // Niagara University) headed home a flick from Man of the Match Ian Mort (Rochester, N.Y. // SUNY Geneseo) flick in the 12th minute and the Blitzers (6-0-1) held firm the rest of the way for a 1-0 win, the first ‘W’ for FCB in the heated Erie County Derby.

BOX SCORE

The Admirals (2-2-2) continually found themselves on the ground thanks to crunching tackles from Garcia, Jake Rinow (Lancaster, N.Y. // Cornell University), Chris Walter (Buffalo, N.Y. // Hartwick College) and Bobby Ross (Grand Island, N.Y. // SUNY Brockport) set a stiff backline that was penetrated precious few times.

Starting goalkeeper Kareem Gray (Gasparillo, Trinidad // Canisius College) was not called on often, but when he was he was fairly brilliant in turning aside five shots.

FC Buffalo faces a stiff road test next weekend with FC Sparta Michigan on Friday, June 21 and undefeated Detroit City FC on Sunday, June 23.

The next home match is Sunday, June 30 at 1 p.m. against the same Erie Admirals.
