Despite the United States men’s national team’s infamous failure to qualify for the tournament in Russia, the 2018 World Cup has been thrilling the players of FC Buffalo.

That’s because the connections in the soccer world run deep and wide, the world’s game being very much part of a small world.

So we’ve spoken to a pair of players who’ve represented their youth national teams, Keane McIvor (Trinidad and Tobago) and Lewis White (Scotland), on the World Cup and their pasts.

Keane played against a loaded Brazilian national team while with the T&T youth, and you might be surprised to hear that one of Neymar’s teammates was more impressive than him, while Lewis has matched wits with American winger Christian Pulisic.
