Introducing “The Walter”

The Albright-Knox Art Gallery announced a new FC Buffalo-themed statue at Robert Rich Sr. All-High Stadium honoring the club’s captain Chris Walter.

“The Walter” was crafted by celebrated Brooklyn-based sculptor Tara Donovan, who was caught by the majesty of Walter’s trademark sliding tackles.

“On behalf of Chris, who would never have the audacity to speak out on such matters, we’re thrilled to welcome ‘The Walter’ pitch side at All-High,” said FCB director arts and culture Rolf O’Laipsday. “It shows the impact the club has had on the celebrated artistic community of Western New York, and we trust that fans and art lovers alike will appreciate its importance to the world.”

With FCB’s first two preseason games taking place at Sweet Home High School and not All-High, the United Nations Arts Conservancy has graciously volunteered to helicopter the trophy to Amherst for viewing at both matches.
