Give us 90 more minutes, please, to salute our boys

Dear supporters of soccer, this city and FC Buffalo,

The past nine months have been a whirlwind. Perhaps it’s fitting that we purchased and ran a full season in the time it takes to give birth to a child, because through the labor pains we’ve found something we truly love and shared it with fans who have made every minute fulfilling.

For all you’ve done for us, we’ve got one final favor to ask of you as the 2010 season comes to a close.

Tell everyone you know to come out to our home finale Sunday at 7 p.m. so we can salute and celebrate the players, coaches, fans and staff who made this year an emotional boon to all involved.

I can tell you from talking to the guys on the team that what you’ve brought to our stadium has been magnificent and meant the world to them. It’s an anonymous vote, but you should know that Mike Unwin voted “The Fans” as the Unsung Hero of the season.

So come on out on Sunday for five dollars. I can promise you each fiver through the door is bigger to us than you can possibly imagine. Sure, there will be prizes and the players will giveaway their road jerseys to select fans, but let’s celebrate the return of soccer in Buffalo with a hopeful eye towards next year and a bunch of thumbs up to our boys in blue this year.

With love on behalf of the FC Buffalo staff: Go Blitzers,

Nick Mendola

co-owner, FC Buffalo

Oh, and don’t forget to vote in the Supporters Choice Award, which will be given away at our season-ending, open to the public awards ceremony later this summer:
