FC Buffalo is happy to announce an agreement to join the Western New York Flash Academy as official club affiliates. This is the first partnership of its kind for FC Buffalo and serves as the top of the pyramid for the boys’ side of the WNY Flash Academy.

The Flash Academy is an inaugural member of the Boys Elite Clubs National League (ECNL), and will begin play in Fall 2018. The relationship with FC Buffalo provides a top-tier pyramid goal for boys within the club.

“Our goal is to completely change the soccer landscape in the WNY area, and we know that a partnership with a top organization like FC Buffalo is a huge step in the right direction for our entire academy – especially on our boys side,” said Flash vice president Aaran Lines. “FC Buffalo provides a great platform for collegiate and post-collegiate male soccer players to perform on, and is very integral to the soccer community in wester New York. We look forward to the positive impact not only on FC Buffalo, but with our Academy and shaping the next generation of young men and women both on and off the field.”

Among the highlights of this relationship:

  • The Flash’s UWS side and FC Buffalo will stage a doubleheader on May 20 at All-High.
  • All Flash Academy players will receive season tickets to FC Buffalo’s 2017 NPSL campaign.
  • FC Buffalo players will help instruct youth players at WNY Flash camps and clinics.
  • The Flash Academy will have a visible presence in FC Buffalo’s game day.
  • Sahlen’s Sports Park will continue to play an integral role in FC Buffalo’s development.

The Flash’s assistant junior program director of coaching, Regan Steele, is one of many pre-existing connections between FC Buffalo and the Flash. Lines has led the Flash to multiple national championships after a distinguished playing career which includes time with New Zealand national team and Werder Bremen of the Bundesliga.

“The opportunity to form a partnership with the Flash ahead of this season is beneficial to FC Buffalo on so many levels,” said FCB co-owner Nick Mendola. “We were impressed with the dedication, ambition, generosity, and aims of the Flash during this process, and look forward to the future.”
