In seven years, we’ve seen a wealth of FC Buffalo alumni take their professional strides, but it’s hard to imagine a moment as big as Asani Samuels’ Friday night at Sahlen’s Stadium in Rochester, N.Y.

The 2013 FCB striker and Rhinos rookie subbed into the USL Championship Game with his side down 1-0, then proceeded to put in an MVP performance by scoring in both stoppage time and extra time to lead Rochester to a 2-1 win over L.A. Galaxy II.

Yep. As amazing the accomplishments of 11 future pros which include multiple European contracts, two MLS Draft picks, and a USL Player of the Week Award, being the MVP and an instant club legend is pretty special.

Watch his match-winner and post-game interview with a solid Canisius College shout-out below.

Proud to know you, Asani. Congratulations to a good man, better example of what can be done in Buffalo soccer.
