Blitzers put out Torch in first road match

The cozy digs of home weren’t nearly as friendly as Souderton, Penn., as FC Buffalo used team speed to build a three-goal lead before holding on for a 3-1 win over the Buxmont Torch.

Colgate’s Mike Reidy scored twice in the second half and Canisius product Victor Gonzalez buried a free kick from 27 yards out to account for the scoring.

Reidy’s first goal came in the 56th minute after Mike Unwin made a strong run down the left flank. Unwin dropped the ball to Josh Faga, who split the defense with a pass to Reidy, who took a touch before slotting home for the 1-0 lead.

Andrew Lill played provider 11 minutes later when Reidy corralled his long pass and wound his way through the back line to double the lead. Gonzalez converted a free kick earned by Matt Schuber four minutes later to finish the Blitzers scoring.

Ben Allen dirtied goalkeeper Craig Yanni’s clean sheet in stoppage time with a conversion of a Tyler Cotton cross.

FC Buffalo will be back home at RER All-High Stadium at 7 p.m. EST Saturday June 4 versus Pocono Snow and at 3 p.m. EST Sunday June 5 versus the Erie Admirals. Admission is $5.
